Aujourd’hui, direction le Tongariro National Park et ses volcans, notamment le fameux Mont Ruapehu, un volcan actif haut de plus de 2700m sur lequel on peut skier \u00e0 la bonne saison. Malheureusement, il pleut tellement sur notre descente \u00e0 travers le Tongariro, que nous ne verrons que partiellement le volcan, rev\u00eatu d’une belle robe de nuages…<\/p>\n

On roule jusqu’\u00e0 la ville de Ruapehu, qui ressemble \u00e9trangement \u00e0 nos stations de ski endormies hors saison… Mais, Ruapehu c’est aussi \u00ab\u00a0la capitale de la carotte\u00a0\u00bb, selon le Lonely Planet. Il para\u00eet qu’il y a m\u00eame une carotte g\u00e9ante \u00e0 l’entr\u00e9e de la ville… Trop rigolo, on se dit qu’il faut aller voir \u00e7a. Ca fait beaucoup rire les parents, mais les enfants sont d\u00e9pit\u00e9s (\u00ab\u00a0une carotte g\u00e9ante? Mais c’est nuuuuuul!\u00a0\u00bb)…<\/p>\n

Quel \u00e9merveillement lorsque nous d\u00e9couvrons la fameuse carotte! Ca vaut vraiment la peine de parcourir des kilom\u00e8tres jusqu’aux antipodes pour voir une telle splendeur!<\/p>\n

TROP MAR-RANT! Apparemment, les habitants de la ville ont pour habitude de cultiver chacun leur petit potager et ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 il y a plus de trente ans de marquer cette particularit\u00e9 par une statue de l\u00e9gume g\u00e9ant.<\/p>\n

Et il y a, \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la fameuse carotte g\u00e9ante, tout un petit parc de jeux sur le th\u00e8me des l\u00e9gumes. Les enfants n’aiment toujours pas…<\/p>\n

Tandis que les parents s’\u00e9clatent!<\/p>\n

On s’installe dans le parc saugrenu pour y faire un petit pique-nique. Puis nous allons chercher notre camping; un bungalow pour les Pfyffer (comme nous n’avons plus de campervan) et une place de camping pour les Hoornaert.<\/p>\n
